The Tips: Golf Coach — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how The Tips Performance Golf ("we," "us," "our") handles information when you use The Tips: Golf Coach mobile application (the "App").

1. What we collect

When you create an account and use the App, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and a password. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage; we never see your plain-text password.

  • Coaching conversations — the messages you send to the AI coach in the Play, Practice, Psychology, and Diagnose tabs. We store these in our backend database to operate the App.

  • Device diagnostics — crash reports and limited session replay data, collected by our error monitoring tool to help us identify and fix bugs. Session replay is sampled at 10% of normal sessions and 100% of sessions where an error occurs.

We do not collect: payment information, location data, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, advertising identifiers, or any data used to track you across other apps or websites.

2. How we use this information

We use the information above to:

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in

  • Send your messages to our AI coaching service and return responses to you

  • Diagnose crashes and improve App stability

  • Communicate with you about your account or important changes to the App

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling.

3. Who we share it with

We share limited information with the following service providers who help us operate the App. They are bound by their own privacy commitments and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes:

  • Anthropic, PBC — receives the text of your coaching conversations to generate AI responses. Anthropic does not use API content to train its models.

  • Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) — receives crash reports and sampled session replay data.

  • Railway Corp. — hosts our backend servers and database.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

4. How long we keep it

We retain your account and coaching conversations for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your account information and conversations from our active systems within 30 days. Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days before being purged. Crash and diagnostic data is retained for up to 90 days.

5. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Edit your profile in the App at any time

  • Delete your account by emailing dustin@thetipsperformancegolf.com — we will confirm deletion within 30 days

  • Request a copy of your data by emailing the same address

If you are a resident of California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data. Contact us at the email above to exercise those rights.

6. Children

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard practices, including HTTPS for all data in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls on our backend systems. No system is 100% secure, but we work to minimize risk.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top will be updated when we do. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email.
